O'day Mariner 'Vinland' - Sailing on Sebec Lake

If you can't beat 'em join 'em. Good steady breeze and steady rain made for a good sail. I had the lake mostly to myself on this day.

Kiwanis Auction - Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

We like going to the Kiwanis Auction in July. It's a tradition in DF for a long time and I have been going since I was a kid. Watch the video to see a coffee maker auctioned for a good cause (and hear a real Maine accent).

Ice-Out was April 22, 2009

Sebec Lake ice-out was April 22, 2009 called by a resident at the Narrows. You can see the time-lapse video of that day. Just go to www.SebecLake.net and see the link at the top of the page. The window in front of the camera had a lot of moisture on it that morning but you can still see through enough to see the ice going out.

A foxy fox was checking out the ice-fishing holes yesterday.

It's a European Starling, darling.

Interesting Fact: All of the 200 million European Starlings found in North America today are descendants of about 100 birds released in NYC Central Park in the 1890's by an industrialist who wanted to establish, in the US, all birds mentioned in the works of Shakespeare. From here.
